Tutorial
Introduction
Is your bloody XP computer getting a little slow with booting?
Then it's probably because you have installed too much junk on your computer which is trying to start running as soon as you turn on your computer.
This tutorial will explain how to get rid of that.
Opening the System Configuration Utility
To remove startup items we will have to open a program to do so.
This program is embedded in Windows XP itself so any one with this opperating system can access it by doing the following:
- Press start
- Press "Run"
- Type in: msconfig
- Press enter or click on "OK"
When that is done you will get something like this:

When the utility starts click on the tab "Startup" as shown in the picture.
This is where you unselect the programs you don't want to start when your computer is booting.
How do i know what to turn off ?
A tip for people that don't know much about computers is to only unselect programs that you know.
For example:
Msn messenger.
Itunes helper
The programs you always turn off are the ones without a Startup Item name.
Why?
Because it's very likely to be a rubbish program which either you have installed or an unknown program. You don't want this to slow down your computer.
What to do now ?
You now have unselected the unwanted programs.
After this is done you click on "Apply" then "OK".
A message will come up saying you will need to reboot.
Reboot when ever you like.
After the reboot a message will pop up, select the checkbox and click on "OK".
Now that's you done.
i hope it helped you
